George CRANSTON, Iron Ship Builder

George CRANSTON was born about 1849 in Partick, Glasgow.  He was the son of George CRANSTON and Agnes IRVINE.  In 1872, George married Margaret SMITH in Partick. Margaret was born about 1851 in the Maryhill district of Glasgow.  George was a Ship Builder and the family lived at 18 Hyndland Street and later at 8 White Street in the Partick district of Glasgow.

Children of George CRANSTON and Margaret SMITH:

i.  George C. CRANSTON who was born about 7 December 1873 in Partick.  George apprenticed as a Iron Maker however at the turn of the century he was working as a Provision Traveler.

ii.  Margaret Smith CRANSTON who was born in 1876 in Partick.  Margaret was at one time employed as a Dressmaker's Assistant.

iii.  Matthew Smith CRANSTON who was born in 1878 and died the same year in Partick.

iv.  Agnes Irvine CRANSTON who was born in 1879 in Partick.  Agnes sold groceries in the Partick area.

v.  Matthew Smith CRANSTON who was born in 1881 in Partick.  Matthew worked as a Joiner.

vi.  Elizabeth Smith CRANSTON who was born in 1883 in Partick.  Elizabeth worked as a Confectioner's Assistant.

vii.  Robina Ballantyne CRANSTON who was born in 1886 in Partick.

viii.  John Smith CRANSTON who was born in 1888 in Partick.

ix.  William Kinnear CRANSTON who was born in 1890 in Partick.
