iv. James Ainslie MURRAY, who was born 21 July 1884 in Edinburgh. James attended the Edinburgh Academy from 1900 to 1902, winning the Academy's Balfour Music Prize in 1902. James was employed as a Stockbroker and lived near his parents at 8 Royal Terrace in Edinburgh. James married Mabel Victoria RUSH in 1921 in Edinburgh. Mabel was born about 26 March 1897 at Merchiston Lodge on Colinton Road, Edinburgh. She was the daughter of Henry Mortimer RUSH and Mabel Vivian SPROTT. J. Ainslie MURRAY and his wife Mable moved to London where they lived at 20 Princes Square in the Bayswater District. J. Ainslie MURRAY was notable as a conductor of light orchestras and he also made arrangements for them. As a classical composer, J. Ainslie MURRAY is remembered for his composition PHILINA.
