In the late 1870's, the family moved to Cumberland, England where John found work as
a Mineral Borer. The family lived in Cleator for a short while, then for several years on
Penzance Street in Egremont, and finally in the village of Kirksanton.

iii. Catherine Calderhead MURRAY, who was born on 31 August 1874 at Murdostoun.
iv. William MURRAY, who was born on 23 December 1876 at Heatherside House in Murdostoun.
v. James MURRAY, who was born about 1879 in Cleator, Cumberland, England.
vi. Thomas MURRAY, who was born about 1880 in Egremont, Cumberland.
vii. Annie MURRAY, who was born about 1884 in Egremont.
viii. Jessie MURRAY, who was born about 1886 in Egremont.
ix. George MURRAY, who was born about 1889 in Egremont.
x. Isaac MURRAY, who was born about 1890 in Egremont.
xi. Joseph MURRAY, who was born about 1893 in Egremont.
