One can conceive that many of the families catalogued in this
website led difficult lives. However it would be hard to pinpoint a couple
who were tested like John and Sarah CRANSTON. This couple had to endure
six youngsters dying before reaching the
age of three.  1886 was an especially tough year as two children died. The first of
May in 1892 must have been an emotional day on Dumbarton Road as a daughter was born and a two
year old son was lost.
John Irvine CRANSTON died at 177 Dumbarton Road on 14 July 1905.
Sarah McLeary CRANSTON died on 20 December 1937.
