Mary Jane Murray

Mary Jane MURRAY was born about 15 November 1849 in the St. Cuthbert's district of Edinburgh.  She was the daughter of James MURRAY and Agnes RITCHIE.  On 29 April 1874, Mary Jane married John HARCUS in Edinburgh.  John was born about 1843 in Westray, Orkney and he was the son of William HARCUS and Ann SINCLAIR.  John was employed in the shipping industry, first as a clerk and eventually became a Shipping Manager.  Mary Jane HARCUS died on 03 February 1922 in Cupar, Fifeshire and John HARCUS died on 03 May 1922 at the family home at 2 Victoria Gardens, Kirkcaldy.

Children of John and Mary Jane HARCUS:

i.  William HARCUS, who was born about August of 1874 and died on 10 May 1875 on Tollbooth Street in Kirkcaldy, Fifeshire.

ii.  Edith Agnes HARCUS, who was born in 1876 in Kirkcaldy.  In 1900, Edith married Archibald MCKELVIE in Kirkcaldy.  Archibald was born about 1873 in Leith and was the son of Archibald MCKELVIE and Elizabeth SINCLAIR.  Archibald MCKELVIE, the husband of Edith HARCUS, was an Agent for a Match Manufacturer.  He died on 21 January 1941 at 83 Trinity Road, Leith.  Archibald and Edith MCKELVIE had a son named Archibald who once lived at 5 Beresford Avenue in Leith.

iii.  John HARCUS, who was born in 1877 in Kirkcaldy.

iv.  James Murray HARCUS, who was born in 1879 in Kirkcaldy.

v.  Mary Jane Murray HARCUS, who was born in 1881 and died in 1888 in Kirkcaldy.

vi.  Annie Sinclair HARCUS, who was born in 1882 in Kirkcaldy.
