Peter Murray Coal Miner

Peter MURRAY was born on 26 May 1872 at Gateside in the Whitburn Parish of Linlithgowshire.  He was the son of Peter MURRAY and Janet WHITEFORD.  Like his father, Peter worked in the Coal Mines so numerous in the area around Fauldhouse.  On 25 Aug 1893, Peter married Christina WALKER in Fauldhouse.  Christina was born on 11 August 1872 and was a daughter of Joshua WALKER and Isabella NEILSON.

Peter and Christina lived at number 27 Stone Row in the village of East Benhar.  Christina died there on 07 September 1907.  Peter was living at 20 May Terrace in Blackburn when he died on 03 December 1945.  Peter and Christina are buried in the Fauldhouse Cemetery (see photo of cemetery at left).  The photo at right is a close up of Peter and Christina's headstone in the Fauldhouse Cemetery. Children of Peter MURRAY and Christina WALKER:

i.  Isabella Neilson MURRAY, who was born on 01 October 1894 in East Benhar.  Isabella married Robert MCCALL who was a coal miner in the Fauldhouse area.  Isabella Murray MCCALL died on 21 May 1944 at 2 George Terrace in Blackburn.

ii.  Janet Whiteford MURRAY, who was born on 21 June 1896 in East Benhar.  On 03 December 1920, Janet married William Aitken in Lindsay Hall in Blackburn.

iii.  Jane Walker MURRAY, who was born on 24 November 1898 in East Benhar.

iv.  Peter MURRAY, who was born on 30 April 1903 in East Benhar.  Peter was a Coal Miner and married Alison GRAY on 26 August 1924 in Whitburn.  Peter and Alison had a son named Joshua Walker MURRAY who was born in May of 1933 and died of pneumonia on 22 January 1939 while the family was living at 65 Marshall Place in Blackburn.
