William MURRAY of Romanno

William MURRAY, son of William MURRAY and Joneta ROMANNO, (Romanno House shown at right) was mentioned in a 1533 charter as son and heir to his father.  The name of William's first wife who he married in 1531 is unconfirmed.  He married secondly, on 25 Feb 1554, Agnes SOMERVILLE (Lady Hopcailze), daughter of Hugh SOMERVILLE and widow of John TWEEDIE of Drumelzier.  William also married Helen HENDERSON sometime after 1558.  William Murray, of Romanno died about 1582.

Children of William MURRAY and Agnes SOMERVILLE:

i. John MURRAY, d. 1602.

ii. James MURRAY, who is mentioned in Edinburgh Commissary Records dated Dec. 1581 when his father was relieved from being cautioner.
